Virus outbreak can hit the food!
According to experts, in case of prolongation of the epidemic and restrictions, various problems may arise in food supply and security due to the problems experienced in regions where agricultural production is intensive. In addition, there is a risk of food safety being endangered due to problems caused by lack of control.
TMMOB Chamber of Food Engineers Konya Chairman Hulusi Ada stated that offal and poultry meat were mixed by the producers under the stairs to the products such as minced meat and sausage sold under the name of 100% beef, and water was injected with a syringe in order to dominate the scale in red meat. He warned citizens to be careful. Stating that those who want to reduce the costs can put horse meat, offal and poultry meat into it, Toprak said, “These are completely imitated adulteration. The way to prevent them is to increase the penalties many times. We can understand these tricks not by looking at them, but by analyzing them. Usually not visible. It is necessary to shop from known and trusted companies. Reading labels is also important. Most of those who make these imitation products are under the counter businesses. " said.
"PROTECTION FROM DISEASES: RELIABLE FOOD!"
Drawing attention to the importance of safe food for protection from diseases, President Ada said, “Today, some opportunists, especially for the segment with low purchasing power; They will sell under the stairs, unrecorded, unsuitable products on the street, in bulk or unpackaged, at almost raw material prices. These products should not be respected, purchased or consumed. It is of great importance to check whether there is a registration or approval number given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on the labels of the purchased food, and to examine the recommended consumption date, the name and address of the producer company, content information, quantity and price information. Every consumer is also an auditor for safe food consumption. Consumers can make all their notices and complaints about food by calling Alo 174 Food Line ”.
'HANDS SHOULD BE WASHED AFTER HANDLING RAW PRODUCTS'
Saying that there are some issues that need attention, Ada explained them as follows: “Fruits and vegetables should be thoroughly washed under running water, especially green leafy vegetables should be kept in vinegared water if necessary, and a washing brush should be used. Hands should be washed after touching raw meat, chicken, fish and eggs. During the food preparation phase, kitchen tools used for cutting and chopping raw meat and chicken should not be contacted with vegetables and fruits to be consumed raw before washing them. Dry foods such as grains, legumes, sugar should be stored in a dark, dry and cool environment. Meat, chicken and fish that will not be consumed within 1-2 days should be frozen in portioned and packaged form. Meat dishes should not be kept in the refrigerator for more than 1-2 days, and meat-free meals should not be kept more than 3-4 days. "
‘IT SHOULD HAVE TO HAVE A FOOD ENGINEER’
Ada said that there is no obligation to employ food engineers in some businesses, and, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, today 1 billion people are struggling with hunger, while more than 1 billion people suffer from obesity. Every year, it produces enough food to feed the world population, but unfortunately, one third of these products, ie 1.3 billion tons of food, is wasted due to financial, technical limits and lack of food precautions. These data also reveal the importance of preventing waste. Bakery ovens, mass consumption areas, dairy factories, meat factories, flour factories, chocolate, confectionery factories, dried nuts and fruits factories, fruit and vegetable factories, egg production facilities, which constitute a large part of the food sector and have a capacity of 30 HP and employ less than 10 workers as required by law. There is no obligation to employ food engineers and mandatory personnel in enterprises. Therefore, it is a necessity to increase the inspections in these enterprises ”.
'DO NOT BELIEVE IN EVERY SHARING'
To achieve reliable food that emphasized the importance of food engineer employed Island, "Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, food safety controls should be more frequent, because currently about 800 thousand pieces of food Property inspections in Turkey, is attempted by 7 thousand food controller. With this audit team, a company can only be audited once a year. This shows that the inspections are insufficient. We see this in today's food terror, imitation and adulteration. Food inspection teams should continue to take and implement measures to protect human health. The posts about food products on social media should be taken seriously and not every sharing should be believed. Because there may even be conscious or unconscious sabotage. Therefore, the decisions of the Ministry of Agriculture and judicial processes should be taken for certainty, otherwise it is not right to blame the food enterprises unjustly ”. Ada ended her speech by saying, "Due importance should be given to food safety for public health and food engineers for food safety."
