Vice President Joe Biden visited the Turkish embassy in Washington Tuesday to offer condolences for a recent terror attack in Ankara that killed nearly 100 people and wounded almost 250 others.

Turkish Ambassador Serdar Kilic welcomed Biden, who signed a guest book to commemorate the victims of the attack.

"To the people of Turkey, my heartful condolences to the victims and their families of this terrible tragedy that occurred in Ankara last Saturday," Biden wrote. "The United States stands with Turkey in the fight against terrorism and is ready to provide whatever support is necessary."

Noting the pain of the tragedy, Biden added: "But you will overcome this because of your strong and brave people."

The guest book was signed by several diplomats, including from the UK, Russia, Bulgaria and Yemen.

Representatives from the White House National Security Council and the State Department also signed the book.
