Turkish soldier martyred in Diyarbakir

A Turkish soldier was martyred in Turkey’s southeastern province of Diyarbakir during a counter-terrorism operation against the PKK, the military said Saturday.

In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the soldier was wounded on Friday in clashes in Sur and later died.

Seven injured soldiers are receiving treatment.

The PKK - designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU - renewed its armed campaign against the Turkish state in late-July.
