Turkish Airlines sees 54 percent rise in profits
Sales revenue increases by 17 percent in first nine months of 2015 to $7.37 billion
Turkish Airlines on Friday announced a net profit of 2.37 billion Turkish liras ($810 million) between January and September.
The figure represents a 54 percent increase on the same period last year, the flag-carrier said in a statement. Sales revenue rose by 17 percent to 21.6 billion Turkish liras ($7.37 billion).
“Despite the strong competitive environment among the world’s leading players, political and economic stability in the region and severe operating conditions due to the currency fluctuations, Turkish Airlines continues its profitable and sustainable growth for the country,” the company said.
The number of destinations increased to 283 over the first nine months of 2015 and the airline’s capacity rose by nearly 13 percent.
The number of passengers using Turkish Airlines climbed from 41.4 million to 46.5 million -- a 66.5 percent jump.
