BIST 100 index up 0.64 pct while US dollar/Turkish lira and euro/Turkish lira rates stand at 3.95 and 4.69 respectively

Turkey's benchmark stock index, BIST 100, rose 653.30 points or 0.64 percent to open at 102,995.13 points on Thursday.

The banking and holding sectors indices increased by 1.07 and 0.64 percent, respectively.

Among all sectors, the transportation sector index saw the biggest rise -- up 1.83 percent -- whereas the insurance sector index had the highest decline, going down 0.14 percent.

At close on Wednesday, the BIST 100 was up 273.80 points -- 0.27 percent -- to 102,341.83 points. The day’s trading volume was 5.7 billion Turkish liras (nearly $1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 3.9520 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT) on Thursday, compared with Wednesday's close at 3.9650.

The euro/Turkish lira rate also slightly decreased to 4.6920 on Thursday morning, down from 4.6940 at the close on Wednesday.

Brent oil stood at $62.75 per barrel at 0728GMT on Thursday, down from $63.16 in the last close.
