Turkey condemns suicide bombing in Baghdad

The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday conveyed its condolences to the "the friendly and brotherly people of Iraq" following a deadly suicide attack in Baghdad.

"We have learned with sorrow that, according to the preliminary reports, 17 people were killed and at least 30 wounded in a terrorist attack perpetrated in the Nahravan district of Baghdad," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry conveyed its condolences to the people of Iraq and wished "Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and speedy recovery to the wounded".

"We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist attack. Such attacks, perpetrated at a time when Iraq is making significant strides in the fight against terrorism, will not hinder efforts to attain social peace in Iraq," it added

Turkey also asserted its continuous "support to Iraq in the fight against terrorism".
