Turkey: 28 PKK terrorists killed in southeast
Military operations against PKK continue in Mardin, Hakkari and Sirnak provinces
A total of 28 PKK terrorists were killed Monday during ongoing operations in Turkey's southeast, according to figures provided by Turkish armed forces.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Turkish General Staff said 16 terrorists had been "neutralized" in the province of Mardin’s Nusaybin district, bringing the total number of terrorists killed in said district, since the beginning of operations about two weeks ago, to 123.
Moreover, in the Sirnak province, nine terrorists were killed during the operations, bringing the total number of terrorists killed in this province to 113.
Three terrorists were also killed and the body of a terrorist was also found in the Yuksekova district of the Hakkari province, making it 86 terrorists killed in this district since the beginning of operations.
Many armor-piercing weapons as well as long-barreled weapons, heavy weapons, rocket launchers and ammunition, as well as handmade explosives and grenades were also seized in the operations.
More than 350 members of the security forces have been martyred since the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign last July.
Thousands of PKK terrorists have also been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
