Six children killed in fire in southeast Turkey

Six children died in a blaze in southeast Turkey on Tuesday morning in an incident initially blamed on an electric heater, health officials said.

Another three were injured when fire broke out in a two-story building in Kulp, a town around 95 kilometers (59 miles) northeast of provincial capital Diyarbakir.

The children's ages were not immediately available.

Local reports said the building housed a religious school.

The injured children were taken to Dr. Abdullah Birogul State Hospital for treatment.
