Police arrest 37-year-old woman who was reportedly selling fake drugs on the Internet
Istanbul police have seized Wednesday half a metric ton of counterfeit drugs which were being sold online.
The anti-smuggling and organized crime branch of the Istanbul police have arrested a 37-year-old woman and seized over 1,500 boxes of drugs, which supposedly helped weight loss.
The suspect who was found in the district of Basaksehir was reportedly importing herbal powders from Iran and Romania.
She is suspected of selling them illegally on the Internet using false labels.
The Istanbul Chamber of Pharmacists had recently demanded that the state take more serious precautions against the sale of these types of drugs on the Internet.
Every year, around 1 million people die and millions of others face significant health problems around the world due to intake of fake medicine, the chamber had said in a written statement.
