Ilgın Sugar Factory celebrated its 38th anniversary

The journey of beet to sugar, which started 38 years ago at Ilgın Sugar Factory, continues uninterruptedly. According to a statement from the Turkseker, Turkey's 20th sugar factory, the foundation of tamarisk Sugar Factory, was taken in October 10th, 1976 by Necmettin Erbakan. The factory, which was established with a daily beet processing capacity of 6 thousand tons, was put into operation on 28 December 1982. During the first campaign period, the factory, which grows 621 thousand 751 tons of beets on 155 thousand 626 decares with 15 thousand 544 farmers in 138 villages, has increased its production capacity over time. Ilgın Sugar Factory realized the highest production in 1998 in its 38-year history. During this period, the factory processed 1 million 490 thousand 326 tons of sugar beet and obtained 175 thousand 160 tons of sugar. Thus, the best data of all time was reached in 1998. The highest yield per decare in the cultivation areas connected to the factory was in 2019. In 2019, more than 7 tons of beets per decare were obtained. Thus, 2019 was recorded as the most productive year in the history of the factory. The 2008-2009 production period, in which 9.2 percent soil, 0.3 percent diffusion and zero percent sludge loss occurred, took its place in the records as the period with the least loss. During this period, the factory produced 156 thousand tons of sugar by processing 1 million 12 thousand 900 tons of beets. Ilgın Sugar Factory, which started its new production period on September 15, will process 1 million 73 thousand tons of sugar beets in the 2020-2021 production period and obtain 140 thousand tons of sugar, 48 thousand tons of molasses and 430 thousand pulp.
