Gülhane Training and Research Hospital (GEAH) or formerly Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA), II. It was founded by Abdülhamit in 1898 as Gülhane Seririyat Hospital in Istanbul. Today, GATA, which serves as a Training and Research Hospital in Etlik, Keçiören, is one of the most important hospitals in the health system with an excessive age. The hospital was first named "Gulhane Seririyat Hastanesi" with the name of Sultan II. It was opened with a ceremony on December 30, 1898, the birthday of Abdulhamid. Immediately after it was founded under the name of "Gülhane", the military physicians who graduated from Tıbbiye-i Şahane started their practical training here for a year instead of Haydarpaşa Military Hospital before going to their positions in the company.

BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE REPUBLIC

After the Second Constitutional Monarchy was declared in 1908, military and civilian medical schools were united as a result of the reform attempts to be made in the fields of medicine, and an important part of the eleven faculty members of Gülhane was transferred to the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, which was established in 1909. In 1914, the military medicine training in Gülhane was increased, the name of Gülhane Seririyat Hospital was changed to "Gülhane Military Practice School and Services". Due to the modern education and training at Gülhane Seririyat Hospital, the military physicians trained here performed successful duties in the army during the Balkan War, World War I and the Turkish War of Independence.

CUMHURİYET DUYURUSUNDAN SONRA

Upon the possibility of entering World War II, it was decided to move military schools and Gülhane from Istanbul to Ankara, and on 21 July 1941, all belongings and personnel packed into a deck of 28 wagons from Istanbul, Sirkeci, Istanbul, Cebeci Merkez He was transferred to the hospital. GATA, which was affiliated to the Turkish Armed Forces until 2016, was a command training military personnel in the field of health sciences for the Turkish Armed Forces. After the 15 July military coup attempt, with the decree having the force of law issued on 31 July 2016, it was attached to the Ministry of Health along with the health units and its name was changed to Gülhane Training and Research Hospital. Higher education units affiliated with GATA were transferred to the University of Health Sciences.
