Court remands two suspects linked to Istanbul attack
The pair face charges of 'intentional killing' and 'being members of an armed terror organization'
An Istanbul court has remanded in custody two suspects linked to the deadly Sultanahmet suicide bomb attack last week.
The suspects have been charged with ‘intentional killing’ and ‘being members of an armed terror organization’.
The morning blast at Sultanahmet Square on Jan. 12 killed 10 people and wounded 15 others.
Last week's attack was blamed on Daesh by Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who later said police identified the suicide bomber.
Davutoglu said earlier that the bomber had come to Turkey as an ordinary refugee, adding that "all his contacts would be brought out".
Last week, 17 suspects were detained by Istanbul anti-terror police department; 10 of them were arrested for allegedly having links to the suicide bomber.
An Istanbul prosecutor’s office had asked for the pair to be remanded; Istanbul Criminal Court of Peace no:1 issued the order.
