Bad news for tea addicts
Experts point out that drinking tea right after a meal is a harmful habit. After a meal, almost everyone desires tea, reduces the absorption of iron, and therefore can lead to anemia, fatigue, weakness and distraction.
If you have weakness, fatigue, distraction throughout the day, and even can't focus on what you are doing, the culprit may be the teas you drink right after your meal. Dietician Zişan Taşdemir informed that tea should be drunk at least 45 minutes or 1 hour after meals.
'TEA SHOULD BE DRINKED IN A CONTROLLED WAY'
Emphasizing that tea should be drunk in a controlled manner, Taşdemir said, “First of all, the objects we call polyphenolic tannins in the tea bind the iron, so tea consumption immediately after meals is wrong. Especially those with iron deficiency, ie anemia, should pay more attention to this situation. It would be more appropriate to consume tea at least 45 minutes or an hour after meals. Apart from that, there is too much caffeine in tea and excessive intake of caffeine also makes it difficult to pass to sleep, increases calcium excretion in the urine, and also causes discomfort such as weakness and tension. Apart from these, it also causes problems such as tachycardia (heart palpitations). Another misunderstanding point is that water is not consumed due to the feeling of thirst when tea is consumed. However, this is a very wrong situation. Tea increases the water in our body. Therefore, individuals should take care to consume tea in a controlled manner and drink sufficient amount of water during the day ”he said.
'COFFEE SHOULD NOT BE DRINKED AFTER MEALING'
Underlining that coffee should not be drunk after the meal, Taşdemir said, “The same is true for coffee. Since it will bind the iron in the tannins in it, it is more appropriate to drink coffee at least 45 minutes and 1 hour later. Likewise, since it contains caffeine, consuming it in large amounts will cause various ailments. And since it is dioretic, it would be nice to always accompany a glass of water or to include plain mineral water in order to complete the lost minerals. Especially individuals with iron deficiency anemia problems can consume the tea openly and with lemon. Especially consuming tea very quickly can trigger esophageal cancers. "Drinking tea over and over and in excess amounts triggers cancer."
‘FRUITS SHOULD BE CONSUMED IN BREAKFAST MEALS’
Suggesting that individuals should include fruit consumption in their snacks, Taşdemir said, “It would be better for them to include in snacks rather than with meals. Likewise, fruits are rich in fiber and pulp, but portion control is also very important. Because it should not be forgotten that excess of everything will be stored as fat. In addition, fruit juices are sometimes preferred in fruit consumption. It would be more appropriate for them to prefer freshly squeezed fruit juice, especially because of the high content of additives and sugar in packaged fruit juices. Since the fiber and pulp ratio will be low in fruit juices, it will be more appropriate if individuals with diseases such as diabetes and insulin resistance do not consume, especially those with blood sugar problems.
‘PLANT TEA IS A MUST HAVE IN THE WINTER MONTH’
Noting that it would be beneficial to consume herbal teas with snacks, Taşdemir said, “Herbal teas are indispensable in winter months. When consumed without sugar, they protect us from diseases and positively affect the immune system against diseases. However, in herbal teas, it would be more beneficial to consume teas containing one type of herbal teas rather than mixed herbal teas with unknown ingredients. At the same time, individuals with blood pressure problems and pregnancy conditions should stay away from green and white tea. At the same time, it would be better to stay away from that tea as it may cause miscarriage during pregnancy. Pregnant women may prefer especially linden tea. Sometimes they may include winter nose tea, which is a very good source of vitamin C. It can also be consumed by adding a small amount of honey to herbal teas to flavor it or to protect against infections, even a little. We do not want herbal teas to be consumed immediately after meals, ”he concluded.
