25 PKK terrorists killed in SE Turkey
Region has been scene of significant Turkish military operation against PKK terrorists since December
Turkish armed forces have killed 25 PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey’s Diyarbakir and Sirnak provinces, an official security statement said on Tuesday.
According to the statement issued by the Turkish General Staff, on Monday, six terrorists were killed, while 14 others surrendered. In addition, 13 improvised explosives were defused in the Sur district located in province of Diyarbakir.
Separately, 19 terrorists were killed in the Idil district of Sirnak. The statement added that 97 terrorists have been killed in Idil district so far.
Moreover, a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized. The Turkish General Staff stressed that 17 improvised explosives were also defused in Sirnak.
Turkey's southeast has been the scene of a significant military operation since December.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 280 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
