US: 9th coronavirus death reported in Washington state
Confirmed cases now total 21, says authority
The U.S. state of Washington reported its ninth death from the novel coronavirus, multiple reports said Tuesday.
The patient, a woman in her 80s, passed away at her family’s home in King County, Seattle on Feb. 26, according to ABC News.
On Tuesday, Public Health - Seattle & King County announced seven additional confirmed cases of the disease, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in King County to 21.
Washington state accounts for around 27 of the 108 cases reported in the country so far, USA Today reported.
The global death toll from the novel coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, has crossed 3,000, with more than 88,000 infected.
The World Health Organization, which has declared the outbreak an international health emergency, last week upgraded the global risk level to “very high.”
