Turkish security forces killed 28 PKK terrorists in the week between Dec. 11 and Dec. 18, according to an Interior Ministry statement on Monday.

The statement said the security forces launched 187 counterterrorism operations in the last week.

A total of 148 PKK terrorists, 75 Daesh-linked suspects and 575 Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) suspects were arrested in the same period.

Senior PKK member Murat Dag, who uses the alias Ferhat Yilmaz and is on the Turkish Interior Ministry's list of most wanted terrorists with a bounty of one million lira ($260,000), was also killed.

The statement said during the operations, 18 improvised explosives were defused, 81 weapon emplacements, shelters, caves or depots were destroyed, and weapons and ammunition was seized.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey as well as the U.S. and the EU. In its over three-decade-long terror campaign against Turkey, more than 40,000 people have been killed.

Considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the U.S, the PKK has killed more than 40,000 people since 1984, including over 1,200 in the last two years alone.
