Turkish warplanes have "neutralized" six terrorists in northern Iraq as part of an anti-terror operation, the military said on Sunday.

Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

On Twitter, the Turkish Armed Forces said the airstrikes were carried on Saturday in northern Iraq's Zap and Sinath-Haftanin regions.

"Six separatist terrorists planning to attack Turkish military bases were neutralized during the airstrikes on Nov. 17, 2018," it added.

Ammunition depots and shelters used by the terror group were also destroyed in the airstrike, according to the statement.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people.
