Turkey: PKK terror suspect arrested at Istanbul Airport

A suspected member of the PKK terrorist organization attempting to leave Turkey has been arrested with a fake passport at the Istanbul Airport, a security source said on Monday.

A counter-terrorism team from the police department in the northwestern province of Edirne conducted an operation at the airport and arrested the suspect, said the source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The suspect, identified only by the initials Y.B., was wanted for being a member of the PKK terror group.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
