More than 300 kilograms of heroin were seized during anti-narcotics operations across eastern and southeastern Turkey, a ministry statement and a police source said Friday.

The guards confiscated more than 61 kilograms of packed heroin from a lorry they stopped at the gate.

In another operation in eastern Van province, anti-narcotics teams seized more than 155 kilograms of heroin stacked inside a truck, a police source said on the condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

The driver and the passenger were arrested over drug-related offenses.

In southeastern Diyarbakir province, police carried an operation following a tip-off. Two suspects were detained and 86.5 kilograms of heroin were seized, the sources added.
