Turkey: One soldier martyred in Diyarbakir

A Turkish soldier died at hospital after being wounded during an operation against the terrorist PKK group in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

Another soldier was wounded and five terrorists were killed in the operation in Diyarbakir's Silvan town Wednesday, the provincial governor said in a statement.

The statement also said the operations did not involve any air interventions except surveillance activity.

It added that counter-terrorism operations will continue "resolutely" to ensure the safety of citizens.

The terrorist PKK organization resumed its armed campaign late in July. More than 150 members of the security forces have been martyred in the violence while the military says it has killed around 2,000 terrorists.
