Putin sworn in as Russian president
Putin vows to do everything possible to increase Russia's strength, prosperity and glory
Vladimir Putin on Monday was sworn in as Russian president in the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow, marking the official commencement of his fourth term in this position.
"Consider my duty and the meaning of my life to do everything for the prosperity and well-being of Russia", Putin told the inauguration ceremony.
He thanked Russians for "the level of support shown in the presidential elections" and said the high level of support was important for the pursuit of Russian interests in the international arena.
Putin vowed to do everything possible to increase Russia's strength, prosperity and glory, adding that the country needs “breakthroughs” in all spheres.
On March 18 Putin was reelected for a fourth term as Russian president. He won the race with 76.69 percent of the vote.
