PKK terrorist killed in SE Turkey says military
A police officer martyred in counter-terrorism operation in Mardin's Nusaybin district
Turkey’s military has said one PKK terrorist was killed in Mardin’s Nusaybin district on Monday.
In a statement from Turkish General Staff a terrorist also surrendered in Hakkari’s Yuksekova district the same day while police sources said a police officer was martyred in a counter-terrorism operation against PKK in Mardin's Nusaybin district.
A curfew was imposed in Mardin’s Nusaybin district and Hakkari’s Yuksekova district on Sunday.
The curfews were imposed “due to escalating terror activity in the region” and to ensure the “security of citizens’ lives and property”, the army statements added.
Both districts were previously placed under curfew late last year.
Anti-terror operations were recently completed in other southeastern districts such as Cizre, Silopi and Idil in Sirnak province and Silvan and Sur in Diyarbakir.
Turkish army also said they arrested 356 people for crossing into Turkey from Iraq and Syria illegally.
