PKK terrorist arrested in southeast Turkey

A PKK terrorist was arrested in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province on Saturday, local governor said on Saturday.

Idris Akbiyik, the Hakkari governor, told reporters the terrorist, identified as Metin Dasdemir, was arrested at a house in Yeniisik village of Yuksekova district.

Akbiyik said that Dasdemir had taken part in the killing of an 11-month-old baby and her mother, and in another attack that martyred one soldier and three village guards.

In July 2018, a roadside bombing by the PKK terrorist organization killed Nurcan Karakaya and her 11-month-old son Mustafa Bedirhan in Hakkari.

The bomb exploded when a car carrying the civilians passed through the Yuksekova district.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
