Over 21 kg of heroin seized in eastern Turkey

Over 21 kg (46 pounds) of heroin, 9 kg (19 pounds) of methamphetamine were seized, and at least 31 people detained for alleged drug-related crimes, Turkish authorities said Tuesday.

In the eastern province of Van, police discovered over 21 kg of heroin hidden in a car's fuel tank. While the contraband was seized, the driver was held.

Separately, police in the southern Adana province rounded up 26 suspects for alleged drug-trafficking.

Meanwhile, in Istanbul, and the northwestern province of Tekirdag, police discovered highly-lethal methamphetamine, 8 kg and 1 kg respectively, and detained four suspects.
