Moldovan president hails relations with Turkey

The Moldovan president said Thursday that Turkey actively invests in the country.

Igor Dodon said Ankara has invested $80 million dollars in humanitarian projects in the country.

"About 10 days ago Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan came to Moldova on an official visit. That was the first official visit in about 24 years, there were working visits, but this is different and characterizes the development of the Turkish-Moldovan relations," he said.

A lot of bilateral projects were discussed during the meeting, security issues, infrastructure, and neutral status of Moldova, he said.

"We have signed an agreement on strategic partnership. Turkey actively helps and invests in Moldova, only in the last 20 years it has invested more than $80 million in humanitarian projects. Especially in Gagauzia, Turkey has been performing large infrastructure projects, reconstructing schools, roads," he said.

Turkey is going to enter the Moldovan banking system soon, he added.
