Masked men storm HQ of Gaza’s broadcasting authority

Unidentified masked men forced their way into the headquarters of the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation in Gaza City on Friday, according to Palestine’s WAFA news agency.

The intruders assaulted employees and damaged equipment, WAFA reported without giving further details.

Officials from Gaza’s Interior Ministry were not immediately available for comment.

Gaza government spokesman Salama Marouf, however, said the authorities were "looking into the incident with a view to finding the perpetrators”.

"We have contacted Gaza’s Television Directorate and expressed our condemnation of this unacceptable behavior," he said in a statement.

The official added that the authorities were “fully prepared to offer assistance and reject all attempts to undermine media freedom”.
