Martyr prosecutor Kiraz's pain is still in our hearts
The pain of Public Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz, who was martyred after being taken hostage by members of the terrorist organization DHKP / C in his room in the Istanbul Palace of Justice, is still in our hearts.
46-year-old Mehmet Selim Kiraz, who was martyred by members of the terrorist organization DHKP-C while serving in the Istanbul Justice Palace building, was commemorated on the 6th anniversary of his murder. Mehmet Selim Kiraz, born in 1969 in the village of Karabogaz in Siirt and the only son of Hakkı and Saadet Kiraz couple with 6 children, worked as a lawyer and entered the courthouse as a member of the terrorist organization DHKP-C Şafak Yayla and Bahtiyar. Having studied at Mersin Imam Hatip High School, Kiraz also worked as a tailor's apprentice and tried to contribute to the family budget. Kiraz graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1994 and started to work as a judge candidate in Mersin in 1995. Kiraz served as prosecutor in Erzincan, Çayır, Karaman, Kazım Karabekir, Iğdır and Osmaniye, respectively. Kiraz, who was appointed as Gaziosmanpaşa Public Prosecutor in 2010, was appointed to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with the HSYK's summer decree in 2014, and after serving there for 4 years, he was appointed to the Office of Civil Service Crimes.

Considered as an exemplary person by his close circle and friends, and known for his interest in calligraphy, Kiraz, the father of two children, was martyred on 31 March 2015 in his office while he was working at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Acting like a lawyer, terrorist organization members Şafak Yayla and Bahtiyar Doğruyol, who entered the Istanbul Court of Justice in Çağlayan on 31 March 2015 with their weapons without being searched, and Mehmet, who also conducted the investigation into the death of Berkin Elvan, who lost his life during the Gezi protests. He entered Selim Kiraz's office room on the 6th floor. While the act of holding hostages continued in the courthouse, the officials who came to the scene made great efforts to rescue the prosecutor. The waiting of his family, friends and relatives, as well as the public on the screens, gave way to anxiety with gunshots heard about 6 hours after the hostage incident.
Kiraz, understood to have been shot shortly after the gunfire was heard, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The bad news about the prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz, whom the public was waiting to be rescued, was given by Istanbul Provincial Health Director Selami Albayrak at around 23:20. Albayrak announced that 46-year-old prosecutor Kiraz, who was seriously injured after the operation, died despite all the interventions.
