Manure bends the farmer's waist

The farmer is shocked by the high price increase as the chemical fertilizer season begins. The rapid rise in prices at a time when fertilizer use was at its most intense caused harsh reactions from farmers. While it is learned that the ex-factory price of fertilizer alone has increased by more than 65 percent, farmers say that increasing fertilizer prices by almost 90 percent when shipping and dealer profits are included is the biggest threat to agricultural production.

Konya Beet and Agricultural Products Producers Association President Ahmet Bestil, who pointed out that opportunism is made on the way from the producer to the consumer, said, “For example, milk costs 3 liras for farmers and 8 liras in the market. There is a difference of 5 liras. Does anyone see this difference? We harvested wheat in July last year. In Turkey, approximately 10 million tons of wheat was produced. These are listed on stock exchanges. Wheat was sold between 1,600 and 1,800 lira. When wheat goes to the mill and flour is sold, it is sold for 3,600- 3,800 liras. From 100 kg of wheat, 75 kg of flour becomes. 20 kilograms of dandruff. Factories put excessive profits. Neither the manufacturer nor the consumer has a problem. Factories are given to bakeries by making a raise, and bakeries do not have much to do at this point. Currently, bread is 1 lira and 30 kuruş but they are planning to raise the bread again. "There is a serious raise in the middle and it is clearly seen that opportunism is being done here". Stating that agricultural lands are addicted to fertilizers, Bestil said, “If you do not add fertilizer, you will not get enough yield. For example, instead of getting a ton of wheat yield, you get 500 kilograms of yield. Fertilizer increased by 90 percent compared to last year. Fertilizer prices were around 1,600 lira last year. Now it has been around 3 thousand liras. When prices increase, the use of fertilizers will decrease, as a result, yield will decrease and this will be reflected in prices. They were saying that fertilizer prices are also increasing because the dollar is rising because the raw material of the fertilizer is supplied from outside, but at the moment, despite the decrease in the dollar, the prices did not decrease, on the contrary, it increased again. It should be called a stop ”.

'THE COMPETITION ENVIRONMENT IS NOT FORMING'

Noting that fertilizer prices increased due to the lack of competition, Bestil said, “I am also a partner of the Agricultural Credit Cooperative. Agricultural Credit Cooperatives have around 1-2 million partners. The Agricultural Credit Cooperative needs to give the farmer long-term fertilizers. The cooperative's main job is to provide the farmer with cheap fertilizers, but they are 20 percent more expensive than the market. Although there are 5-6 types of fertilizers, they are only the dealership of Gübretaş. They cannot provide a competitive environment for this. company has 30-35 per cent of the fertilizer market in Turkey is Gubretas. Fertilizer prices also increase as they do not create a competitive environment and work on dealership ”.

DO NOT REQUEST, PROVE

Stating that the prices of the wheat harvest last year were determined in Konya Commodity Exchange, Bestil said: “A copy of the wheat purchased from the farmers is also kept and preserved by the millers. Consumers need to see them. There is an extreme price hike. They say free economy, but such a free economy cannot be. These need to be controlled and a profit margin determined by the Department of Commerce. For example, a maximum of 15% and 20% increase should be made. Those who exceed this hike should be inspected and the necessary penalty should be given. Whatever it is in flour prices, a 90 percent increase is too much. What I have said is not a claim but a proof."

PROBLEM WATER PROBLEM

Stating that the biggest problem in production is the water problem, Ahmet Bestil said, “There is no problem in the production of agricultural products, but our ground water has dropped right now. Water needs to come from outside basins. Recently, the State Hydraulic Works Planning Department and Water Department awarded the Kızılırmak project to the tender. They will work on whether the water in the Red Crescent is sufficient or insufficient. There are 32 billion cubic meters of water in the Euphrates. Kızılırmak is born from Sivas İmranlı. Fırat Karasu is also born in Erzincan. Meanwhile, there is a distance of about 240 kilometers. It would be very good if they carry water from Keban to Kızılırmak. The regions of Konya, Cihanbeyli, Altınekin, Kulu, Yunak, Kadınhanı, Sarayönü are the regions where agriculture has precious lands. "If there is water there, we are enough for a country of 80 million people"
