Jordan authorities recover man’s body after floods

The Jordanian authorities have found the body of a young man who was swept away by a spate of flooding that struck capital Amman on Thursday, according to Jordan’s Civil-Defense Agency.

In a statement, agency spokesman Iyad al-Amro said the body belonged to a young man hailing from Amman's Khirbet Souk district.

On Thursday, Jordan was hit by a spate of flooding that paralyzed daily life in the capital, prompting the authorities to suspend work at all government institutions.

The body of the young man, who was not identified by name, was taken to Amman’s Al-Bashir Hospital, according to al-Amro.

Jordan’s Public Security Directorate, meanwhile, has urged citizens to exercise caution when travellingthrough affected areas.
