Daesh/ISIS terror suspect nabbed in central Turkey
Suspect of Syrian origin taken into custody in Kayseri province for suspected links to terror group, says governor's office
Security forces in central Turkey rounded up a suspect of Syrian origin in an operation against the Daesh/ISIS terror group, a local authority said on Tuesday.
The governor’s office in the Kayseri province said in a statement that the suspect, identified by the initials M.H., was nabbed by gendarmerie forces in Melikgazi district.
Legal procedures continue for the suspect taken into custody, the statement added.
In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terrorist group.
The country has since been attacked by the terror group multiple times, with over 300 people killed and hundreds more injured in at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks and four armed assaults.
In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
