Daesh member gets jail term in southern Turkey

A Turkish court in southern Adana province on Monday handed a jail term to a suspect over links to the Daesh terror group, according to judicial sources.

The High Criminal Court in Adana sentenced Dogan D. to over six years of prison for being member of a terrorist organization, said the source anonymously due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Another court in the southern Kilis province remanded a suspect -- known by initials H.I.M. -- in custody for alleged links to the Daesh terrorist organization.

The suspect was determined to be in contact with Daesh members in conflict areas in Syria and arrested in Kilis' border village of Inan when he was about to enter Turkey.

Security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to clear Daesh terrorists from Turkey.

More than 300 people have lost their lives so far in Daesh-claimed attacks in Turkey, where the terror group has targeted civilians in suicide bombings and rocket and gun attacks.
