In 2015, IFFHS selected Cüneyt Çakır as the 8th best referee of 2014. As a result of the voting of IFFHS's editors and experts from 55 countries, 43-year-old Italian Nicola Rizzoli was named "referee of the year 2014", getting 131 points. Rizzoli, who led the 2014 FIFA World Cup final between Germany and Argentina, was followed by British Howard Webb, who quit refereeing with 78 points during the year. German Felix Brych was ranked 3rd behind Webb, who was chosen as the referee of the year in 2010 and 2013 with 61 points. Turkish referee Cüneyt Çakır collected 13 points and shared the 8th place with Mexican Marco Antonio Rodriguez.
