Coronavirus casualties rise in Eurasia, Central Asia

Coronavirus cases and fatalities continued to rise across Eurasian and Central Asian countries on Tuesday.

Ukraine

Ukraine’s COVID-19 tally is now at 108,415, with 1,658 more infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

He said 25 more patients lost their lives, bringing the death toll to 2,318, while recoveries increased by 346 to reach 52,870.

More than 13,000 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, the minister said.

Uzbekistan

A total of 350 new cases brought Uzbekistan’s overall count to 39,506, as five more fatalities took the death toll to 282.

At least 268 more recoveries raised the total to 35,551.

According to the Health Ministry, 3,673 patients remain under treatment and around 100,000 more are under medical surveillance.

Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, 184 new infections raised the total to 104,902.

Recoveries increased to 93,405 with 807 additions, while 11 fatalities took the death toll to 1,523, the Health Ministry said.

Nearly 10,000 COVID-19 patients, including 49 children, are under treatment across the country, the ministry added.

Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan recorded 119 new cases, raising its total to 43,245.

Over 1,050 patients have died and nearly 37,000 have recovered from the virus so far, according to the Health Ministry.

Armenia

Armenia’s case count increased by 111 to reach 42,936.

Four more virus-related fatalities raised the death toll to 858, while recoveries stand at 36,475.

Georgia

In Georgia, eight more cases brought the total to 1,470.

One more fatality moved the death toll to 19, while recoveries increased by 13 to reach 1,150.
