BEE LIKE WORKING

With the increase in online shopping with the pandemic process and the transition to working from home, there was an increase in all private services. Transporters had a great role to play in supplying the increased food need, especially during the pandemic period. Saying that the secret heroes of the pandemic period are transporters, Mayor Ahmet Şen said, "The drivers and transporters in the transportation sector have worked non-stop to meet the needs of our country and our city."

Transporters, working day and night even during the restrictions during the pandemic period, provided important services in hygiene and transportation of food materials. Stating that hygiene products, food and packaging transports increased in domestic transportation during the pandemic period, Konya Driver, Transporters and Automobile Chamber President Ahmet Şen underlined that the logistics sector has a great role in supplying these products at any time.

"THEY HAVE WORKED WITH EXISTING POWER TO TRANSFER GOODS AND SERVICES"

Noting that trade continued unabated during the pandemic period, Mayor Ahmet Şen said, “Factories also continued to work. As such, transporters worked with all their might to transfer products such as iron and metal produced in factories. We continue our services in accordance with the rules. The importance given by our state to the logistics sector in recent years shows our desire to make our country an important logistics center at the global level. For this, I believe that it is necessary for our state to simplify bureaucratic procedures in the field of logistics, to improve customs processes, and to establish structures that will provide public and private sector coordination. We, as the industry, must do our part and plan and implement investments that will improve our business processes ”.

"TRANSPORT SECTOR CARRIES A RISK"

Stating that the transportation sector is also at risk during the pandemic process, Şen said, “In the coronavirus epidemic that surrounds the world, transportation sector employees are among the potential risk groups along with health workers. Those who work in urban public transport, motor couriers, cargo distribution workers, those who provide their labor in local, national and international transport, those who participate in the production process in sea, air, rail and highways, dock workers ... They are in constant contact with people and goods throughout the day and It is located in the part that needs protection first. These workers are not only at risk themselves, but also their families and other social circles! In addition, all individuals that he comes into contact with due to his duty also bear this risk.” Drawing attention to the importance of the transportation sector, Şen said, “With the increase in online shopping of transportation workers and people staying at home, who cannot comply with the government's call to stay at home, their duties have increased. On the other hand, the shipment of medical supplies is among the mandatory tasks in terms of combating coronavirus. Therefore, he ended his speech by saying that protective measures should be taken against transport workers who assume vital roles due to their duties and they should carry welfare, not the virus ”. •SÜMEYRA KENESARI
