9 Daesh/ISIS suspects held in Turkey: Security sources

At least nine people with suspected links to the Daesh/ISIS terrorist organization were apprehended in Turkey, security sources said on Friday.

Anti-terror police in Istanbul launched an operation to nab the suspects considered part of groups planning attacks on behalf of the terror organization in the city.

As part of the investigation, police teams carried out simultaneous operations at nine addresses in different districts and nabbed the suspects.

A large number of digital material and organizational documents were also seized.

Turkey was one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terror group.

The country has since been attacked by its terrorists multiple times. The organization has carried out at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed attacks, killing 315 people and injuring hundreds more.

In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
