30 arrested in anti-narcotics operations across Turkey
Arrests have been made in Ankara, Samsun, Tekirdag, Balikesir, Kahramanmaras, Kocaeli, Van provinces
At least 30 people were arrested during nationwide anti-narcotics operations Wednesday, according to security sources.
Out of the total, seven were arrested in capital Ankara's Cubuk district; a court later remanded three suspects in custody while three others were released under judicial control; the remaining one was put in house detention.
Six suspects were also arrested in the northern Black Sea province of Samsun following raids targeting street peddlers.
Another six suspects were arrested in northwestern Tekirdag province during police operations in three separate districts: Suleymanpasa, Malkara and Cerkezkoy.
Five suspects were also arrested in western Balikesir province, the regional governor's office said in a statement.
Six more suspects were arrested in southern Kahramanmaras, northwestern Kocaeli and eastern Van provinces.
Around 15 kilograms (33 pounds) of heroin and other types of drugs were also seized, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, added.
